Fishing Fun

For FHE this week we went to "Cluff Ponds." It is a place that is about a 30min. drive from our house. The fish were nibbling, but not really biting except for Emmy and Adriana. The trout were the ones that everyone said were biting, but of course Emmy has to be different and reels in a blue gill (that is what Branden called it, I'm really not up on my fish species, I only care that they are edible). This was her first fish ever so we were really excited. She was ready to catch another one. She didn't like the waiting and became cranky when it didn't happen after about 30 seconds. Carsen was disappointed that he didn't get one and the girls did, but we did remind him that he is the one usually reelin' them in and the Adriana hardly ever gets one. Branden and I got skunked, but that happens when you are running around after children and when Branden is trying to keep the lines from snagging. The highlight was the ground squirrel that came out of its hole about 10 yards from us. I was relieved it was only a ground squirrel. Emmy loved the mud ducks and referred to them as uack, uacks. (No that is not a typo, she just can't say her "qu" sound yet.) Adriana was fascinated to learn that ducks go under water for period of time looking for food. We had lots of fun. The kids are ready to go again. Give me another few days and I might consider it. Love fishing, don't love 3 year old around water and other things. Emmy had no problem holding her fish, but Adriana well her face says it all.
