First Day of School

Pictures will follow soon. My computer is being fixed. Nothing big, just a check-up. So I am using another. I don't' want to download pictures onto, but enough has happen that I feel the need to write it down. The kids went back to school on Wed. They had a good day and have great teachers. Carsen's problem was that the recesses were shorter then last year. He thought that was the worst thing ever. And for a 7 yr. old active boy he was almost accurate. So when he got home he decided to take our dog on a walk. That is his stress reliever. He straps the leash to his scooter and lets the dog run. The dog loves and it and he gets to get out. Well, at about 3pm Branden and I were in the garage. Branden went out front because he heard a truck drive up. He just thought it was one of his trades coming to talk to him. Well it wasn't. I heard the crying and went running in the house and out the front door. (I didn't go out the service door because I had no shoes on and rocks and my bare feet don't mix well.) I got out front and saw why Carsen was crying so loudly. His arm had a large unnatural bump. If you have seen Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the part right after all the bones are removed from his arm and right before they pick it up to look at it, that is what Carsen's arm reminded my of. Not good. I was able to stay calm. We are still overly grateful to our neighbor who saw what happened and got Carsen back to us. He kept the dog and the scooter at his house until Branden could go get it. So Branden made a sling really quick (one more reason I married that man--he knows his first aide, good boy scout) and I loaded him in my van and off to the emergency room we went. Branden went and got the dog and scooter and met us at the hospital. Usually when the kids get hurt we look at the problem and only take them in if duct tape or super glue will not fix the problem. Well, they got him into x-ray stat ;) (I know I've lost it) and then wheeled him straight to a room. And with in 30 mins of being at the hospital they had him on morphine. Branden says that is some good stuff, I really didn't care I just wanted to get my boy some relief. It helped and then they began working on him. They decided that since he was saying that a couple of his fingers were numb that they would bring in an Orthopedic Surgeon just to make sure that there would be no real issues. Once he got there they explained what needed to happen and then put Carsen under. Now those are some good drugs. I have had some from the same family of drugs. You don't remember a thing and don't feel a thing. While I know it was better for him, that is finally when I lost it. Nothing like seeing your son totally unresponsive. But it gave me enough time to get it back together and be ready for when he started waking up. Which he did and that was the real entertainment. I know not nice for a mother to be entertained by her stoned child, but really it was funny. Quote of the day, "Trying to get my numbers back." He is doing great. He even went to school today. Tuff kid, I think I would of milked it a little. Not him. But today presented a whole set of new problems. Nothing to do with Carsen or his arm. No this time it was Adriana and a back-pack with a scorpion in it. ALIVE. I will be forever grateful to her teacher who came to the rescue and dumped her backpack out and then realized it was alive and killed it. One more thing to ad to the reason teachers are great list. They are willing to sacrifice their own safety for their students. I'm not sure as a mom I could of done that. If this is how school is going to go, it might be time to have myself committed. Oh well. Never a dull moment.
