Step-back-in-time

In our new (new to us) house I feel as if I have stepped-back-in-time in some areas. Let's start with washing dishes. I have always been very picky about how my dishes are washed. They kinda go in the dishwasher clean. Well now they get scrapped off in the garbage can, cleaned off in the sink and sterilized in the dish water and dried on the counter. If you haven't guessed we have no dishwasher and no disposal. We are on a septic tank and as I found out, most people don't like to have a disposal on septic. We also have yet to get our microwave out of the box. That would be because we have nowhere to put it. So I have gone back to my early childhood when microwaves were a novelty and not above every stove. My stove is the old type from my early childhood also. Since day one of 2004 I have been spoiled to have glass top stove, microwave over my stove and a good dishwasher and disposal. To tell you the truth it really isn't that bad. Although when we have company it will be paper plates, cups and plastic wear. It may be fine now, but I am not going to go to extremes. I will say that I am ok giving those up because in return I have timed heaters in both bathrooms and a heat lamp in the main bath. That is my most favorite thing ever. I doubt though in the summer they will get much use, but now they are being used and enjoyed.
