I am sure most of you have heard about a very large wild fire in Arizona by now. It is the Wallow fire. There are at least 2 others burning right now and it is only the beginning of June. As a family we are praying and fasting for the much needed rain here in AZ. Almost everyday over our Safford mine mountain (I don't know the name of it so that is what I refer to it as) which is to the northeast of us we see a plum of smoke rise over it. There has been a haze for awhile now. He is my issue with the whole thing.
First, to all who go camping or day trips--DON'T BE STUPID! This fire was man made because someone thought that their campfire wouldn't hurt anything or just plain didn't care. Either way they have cost people everything. They might even cost lives (we are praying that won't happen). How people can be so stupid as to have a campfire when the warnings are everywhere. Fire danger is at the extreme level, but you don't need Smoky the Bear to tell you that just look around.
Second, this fire didn't have to get this bad. For years our forests have needed to be thinned out. Due to the bark beetle and dry conditions. Thanks to people who say that nature needs to be left alone (aka environmentalist) this is the end result. I have strong beliefs about religion. Our Heavenly Father told us to take care of the land. Tend to it. Leaving the dead trees and not fighting the bark beetle is not tending to it. There will always be forest fires, but they could be so much more manageable and less devastating if we learn that the land needs help. I don't don't hold any stock in the whole carbon footprint crap, but I will say that the way the earth should be taken care of is by up as people cleaning up our trash and thinning forest so that new growth can grow.
I know this one rambles and probably doesn't make sense, but I am tired of seeing some of the most beautiful spots in Arizona ruined because one group of people have blocked the way to save them.
