9 and counting

Carsen turned 9 over the weekend. We had his party with his friends the weekend before so we could spend the day with as a family. We got up got some things done and headed for a day of fishing. He has been begging to go fishing forever. He got me a fishing pole for Christmas and wanted me to use it. It worked great. We went to Fry Mesa Reservoir and found out that you can only take 1 fish per license home. (STUPID) So there went the idea for dinner. We did catch a lot, but known that would of fed even a 5 year old. (Long story about why they are so small.) We came home and opened up his gifts from the family and got some stuff for dinner. On Sunday we had his birthday dinner with my mom and sister who came down Sunday afternoon. We had baked crispy chicken, creamed corn and asparagus. All per his request. He could eat corn everyday of the week. Then we had a football cake. It would of looked more like a birthday cake if I had actually planned a little better for it. But Sunday got busy (I am not sure why they call it day of rest, it never really is for me.) So the instead of the white threads on the football he got a Fleur De Les looking thing. The icing turned out a little runny. In my defense I did make him baseball cupcakes the week before. So whatever a cake is a cake. And boys don't care as long as they can eat it. Monday we had fun with my mom and sister going to the park to play baseball, soccer and on the toys, then out to eat and then dessert at Taylor Freeze. After that they headed home the kids and I practiced baseball in the yard. I love having enough room that I don't worry about breaking a window. So over all I think it turned out ok. Next year I hope life isn't overly busy again (I say that every year and it still is just crazy) so I can be on top of the whole cake thing. Your dad and I love you tons and are grateful that you are in our family. You make us proud.
